Autologous Tenocyte Therapy (ATT)
Orthocell’s ‘Autologous Tenocyte Therapy’ (ATT) involves regenerating a patient’s own tendon cells, to assist in the accelerated treatment of torn or damaged tendons, common in shoulder, ankle and elbow injuries.
ATT incorporates a same-day surgical procedure whereby a small piece of tendon tissue is removed from the patient and allowed to amplify to a level suitable for reimplantation either directly into the damaged tissue or reimplanted through a minimally invasive incision. The patient is then rehabilitated to underpin tenocyte maturation and tendon formation.
The autologous nature of ATT allows for optimum patient safety as the end product is manufactured from the patients own cells, eliminating the risk of rejection, limiting the risk of disease transmission and optimizing the environment for post-operative healing.
It is anticipated that the ATT treatment will quickly become the preferred mode of treatment replacing current treatments, which are well documented as failing in as many as 40% of cases.
