Autologous Tenocyte Implantation (ATI)

This process involves regenerating a patient’s tendon cells to assist in the treatment of torn or damaged tendons common in shoulder, ankle and elbow injuries. The proposed clinical application of the ATI process will incorporate a same-day surgical procedure whereby a small piece of tendon tissue is removed from the patient and the cells are then cultured over a period of weeks to amplify them to a level suitable for reimplantation. This provides optimum patient safety as the cultured tenocyte cells are manufactured from the patients own cells, eliminating the risk of rejection, limiting the risk of disease transmission and optimizing the environment for post-operative healing.
